2-hour in-person program

Lori Harmon developed the the Program for school nurses to use in the educational setting to assess and document a student under the influence of a substance. This interactive and educational program reviews the seven categories of drugs, their common uses, signs and symptoms, and assessment findings. She will also discuss slang terminology, common ways adolescents use substances in school, and current trends. will provide detailed instructions on assessing and screening the impaired student. Nurses will get a Nurse Assessment and Interview form with a comprehensive review of how to use the tool provided. A discussion will occur regarding the disposition of students under the influence. This session will have an interactive assessment component and scenarios to work through as a group. will offer a question-and-answer session at the end of the program if time allows.

1 to 1.5 hour Administration program

Lori Harmon developed the Administrative Program so the administrative team could feel educated and confident in the safe care of the substance-impaired student. This interactive program reviews the seven categories of drugs, their common uses, signs and symptoms, and assessment findings. She will also discuss slang terminology, common ways adolescents use substances in school, current trends, and Narcan protocols. The program reviews education team roles, student physical assessment locations, and the safe disposition of the impaired student. will offer a question-and-answer session at the end of the program as time allows.
